Scrapbooking Supplies There are a few things that you are going to need to begin your scrapbooking journey. Building a stash of must-have scrapbooking supplies should be your main objective in the the beginning. Here are my six must-have scrapbooking supplies to keep in my stash: Paper/Paper Pad Embellishments Cutting tool Scissors Adhesive Photos paper When it comes to paper, it has to be the main must-have scrapbooking supply on the list. For instance, to build my scrapbooking supply stash, I stuck to a strict budget. Visiting your local Michaels and grabbing paper when it was on sale will build your paper stash in no time! You can normally grab paper by the sheet for $0.25. Additionally, throughout the year, Michaels places their paper pads on sale. Marking them down to about $10 a pad. Keep in mind, you can always use your 40% off coupon when purchasing regular priced items. Furthermore, you have stores like Hobby Lobby and Joann’s, who sell paper in the same fashion as Michaels. Your best bet is to figure out what patterns you gravitate to, and figure out what store sells them at the best price. Lastly, search online. Online stores tend to receive the latest products on the market before your local stores do. Sites like American Crafts, Scrapbook.com, or Paper Issues tend to sell the most current specialty papers/collections in the scrapbook community. embellishments As previously mentioned, stopping by your local craft store to see what embellishments they have on-hand will give you an idea of your style. However, when purchasing from the store, you are obligated to buy embellishments in packages. Unfortunately, this can result in you purchasing embellishments that you might not ever use. On the other hand, you can search online. Because I feel it saves money annual, I choose to purchase my embellishments from the company’s website in a digital format. That way, I can print out only the necessary embellishments needed for my layouts. Or I can reprint out my favorite embellishments over and over! paper trimmer Certainly, there will be time when you might want to make precise cuts when creating your layouts. Therefore, having a paper trimmer will be necessary. I have always used the Fiskars brand, however, I have included a few options from different brands to consider: Fiskars 152490-1004 SureCut Deluxe Craft Paper Trimmer, 12 Inch Firbon A4 Paper Cutter 12 Inch Titanium Paper Trimmer Work4U 9 Inch Paper Trimmer, A5 Portable Scrapbooking Trimmer, Green scissors As a scrapbooker, there are going to be times where you will need to cut out specific things to include in your layouts. I prefer to have two types of scissors in my stash for this purpose. For regular cutting Titanium Scissors – 5 Pack – 8″ Blade – (STRONG TITANIUM STEEL) For fussy cutting EK Success EKCB01 Cutter Bee Precision Scissors, Small adhesive This area is a trial-and-error situation. I have used a lot of adhesive in my days. I prefer to use tape adhesive, and kraft foam for dimension. I do not normally use wet glue, but you should always have it in your stash for emergency. Great brands to consider: Tape Runner adhesive Ad-Tech Permanent Crafter’s Tape 3-D Adhesive 3L Scrapbook Adhesive Permanent Pre-Cut 3D Foam Mounting Squares Liquid Adhesive 3-Pack Bundle – Zig Memory System 2-Way Squeeze and Roll Glue Pen photos Acquiring your photos is quite simple. Since I have started my scrapbooking journey, I have went through different ways to collect and store my photos. The best way that I have found for me to store my photos is to download them from my phone to my computer monthly. I store my photos on my computer in monthly & yearly photos. This helps when I want to incorporate dates on my layouts (plus it refreshes my memory by seeing the dates). I then print out all the photos I deem scrap worthy on a monthly basis. That way I always have current photos to draw inspiration from. but I’m guilty of still scrapbooking older photos (haha) in conclusion It takes some time to build up your scrapbooking supplies. Do not rush it because you may overwhelm yourself with products. Having the basics will definitely get you started on your journey. Before you know it, you will have a ginormous collection of products you will not want to use!
